Barcelona

This was the main variety grown in Oregon State, USA, for the in-shell trade until the arrival of Eastern Filbert Blight. It is a versatile nut, producing high yields of a large nut suited to the inshell trade.  Crackout rate about 43%. Intermediate blanching. The kernel tends to have quite a lot of fibre on the kernel in damp climates but excellent kernel quality has been noted with Barcelona from drier areas such as Marlborough and Wairarapa.
Pollinisers: Lansing, Merveille de Bollwiller, Kentish Cob.
